Weekly Bulletin May 19, 2018

 

Good Afternoon Edgewood IB Families,

 

We are on A week and we are celebrating Classified Staff Appreciation Week.  Show our operations, instructional aide, coaches, clerks, and office staff with a thank you note, flower, candy, or chocolate.  Monday is our last graduation meeting at 4 pm and we are hosting our 8th grade awards event at 6 pm. Tuesday we are hosting Teacher and Staff of the Year Board meeting at 7 pm.  Wednesday our Senior Awards Event begins at 6 pm. Thursday is College Gear Day and Friday is Edgewood Blue PRIDEday. Lastly, we are on Finals Schedule  the last week of school, link for the schedule is included.

Boys tennis athletes Keith Ly and Gabriel Kabigting won the Miramonte Doubles Championships and Junior Ethan Tran fought hard to the end but came up short to finish 2nd in league individuals. Congrats to all three boys, they will play in CIF individual playoffs starting May 24th.

  • 1 in 5 children ages 13-18 have or will have a serious mental health condition.  
  • About 37% of students ages 14+ with a mental health condition will drop out of school.
  • 50% of adults with mental illness reported having symptoms by age 14.
  • Suicide is the third-leading cause of death for 10-24 years old.
  • About 20% of youth ages 13-18 experience mental disorders.

Edgewood High School NAMI On Campus High School Club’s main purpose is to create awareness and dialogue on campus about mental health and well-being while assisting in eliminating the stigma of mental illness through support, advocacy, and education. In joining Edgewood High School NAMI On Campus High School Club, students will learn about mental health, warning signs of mental illness, and how to be a supportive friend. This club is not a support or therapy group.

 

NCHS Edgewood High School and NAMI San Gabriel Valley have a commitment to support mental health awareness for our community.
