June 11, 2018

Dear Edgewood IB Parent(s) or Guardian(s),

The safety and welfare of our students and staff is our highest priority at Edgewood Middle and High School. On Wednesday, June 20, 2018 at approximately 3:00 pm, we will conduct a school-wide Intruder on Campus drill. This will be conducted with voluntary staff and students beginning 3:00 pm. We ask for your cooperation in making this drill successful.  It is our recommendation, that your child is not on campus during the drill from 3:00 – 8:00.  If this is not possible, please be aware that your child will be asked to report to the cafeteria to wait for the drill to end.

We practice safety drills throughout the year to help our students and staff know what to do in an emergency and to allow us to evaluate our emergency operation plans and improve our response skills.  Our school has worked closely with the West Covina Police Department to develop and implement our safety procedures.

Our goal, while practicing important safety procedures, is to ensure that all students feel safe.

Please talk with your child about the drill.  Remember, if your child sees something, they need to say something.  Thank you for your support in helping to keep our campus safe.

Sincerely,

Roni Maddox, Ed.D.

Principal
